Early Life
Alecia Beth Moore, known professionally as P!NK, was born on September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She grew up in a small town with her parents, James and Judy Moore, who divorced when she was a young child. P!NK began singing very early, and was influenced by Madonna, Janis Joplin, Steven Tyler, and Mary J. Blige.
When she was still a toddler, P!NK would sing songs like “Hey Joe” for her amused family members. By age 13, she had begun writing lyrics as an emotional outlet to cope with her parent’s divorce. P!NK formed her first band, Middleground, when she was only 14 years old.
Career Beginnings

While still a teen in the 1990s, P!NK made friends with an R&B group and performed guest vocals on their album when she was just 16 years old. She also sang back-up vocals for the likes of Diana Ross. At age 18, P!NK landed a record deal with L.A. Reid at LaFace Records to make R&B music.
She collaborated with artists like Babyface, but clashed with producers over her artistic direction. P!NK was ultimately dropped from LaFace Records after moderate success. Later, she dyed her brown hair pink in protest. She then caught the attention of Arista Records’ Antonio “LA” Reid, who offered her a second record deal.
Breakthrough Success
In 2000 at age 20, P!NK released her first solo album “Can’t Take Me Home” which blended pop, R&B, and dance elements. While it received mixed reviews, the album was commercially successful. The single “There You Go” became her first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
P!NK’s rebellious attitude and edgy look quickly caught fans attention. Her single “Most Girls” also received significant radio airplay, cementing her as a rising pop star.
In 2001, P!NK released her pop/rock oriented album “Missundaztood” which catapulted her to worldwide fame. The chart-topping singles “Get the Party Started,” “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” and “Just Like a Pill” established P!NK as a versatile artist and skilled performer. P!NK’s singles received heavy airplay on MTV. She also became known for her aerial acrobatics and dynamic concerts.
Continued Success

Over the next two decades, P!NK continued releasing chart-topping singles and hit albums blending pop, rock, R&B, and electronica influences. Her singles “Raise Your Glass”, “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)”, “Just Give Me A Reason” and “What About Us” topped charts globally.
To date, P!NK has released 8 studio albums, over 15 singles, and 4 compilation albums. She has sold over 90 million records worldwide and had over 15 hit singles. Known for speaking her mind, P!NK uses her platform to advocate for social causes from LGBTQ rights to environmentalism.
